Job summary

Hitachi Rail in the United Kingdom is inviting applications for a Junior Architecture Engineer to join our Engineering team in Newton Aycliffe, Durham. You will support the technical development and integration of railway vehicles, with an initial focus on weight management and data analysis across subsystems.

You will gain exposure to vehicle architecture, CAD information, and requirements management while collaborating across multi-company projects.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• English proficiency at least B2 level.

Responsibilities

• Support weight management activities across complex, multi‑company projects.
• Identify contractual and regulatory requirements relating to weight management and vehicle architecture.
• Research, manage and allocate weight data across different subsystems.
• Carry out preliminary weight analysis and help identify measures to mitigate excess weight.
• Maintain and update project documentation, including inputs for Design Reviews.
• Support development of weight benchmarks using available engineering data.
• Undertake requirements management activities using tools such as DOORS.
