EAL Teaching Assistant Required for a Mainstream Primary School in East Leeds

About the role:

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic EAL Teaching Assistant to work temporarily at a fantastic primary school in East Leeds. The school is highly diverse, welcoming families from all over the world!

We are looking for applicants fluent in one of the following languages:

• Romanian
• Ukrainian
• Mandarin
• Polish

Your responsibilities as an EAL Teaching Assistant include:

• Supporting children within the classroom who speak little or no English, primarily speaking the languages listed above, with language development
• Communicating with parents/guardians
• Translating between school staff and students to meet the child's needs and monitor progress
• Adapting lesson materials to support language acquisition
• Reporting and assessing children's progress with the Senior Leadership team
• Assisting with classwork
• Encouraging participation in classroom and school activities
• Promoting confidence among children from diverse backgrounds
• Celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity within the school

The ideal applicant will have:
