Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our client within the water sector. This role is a key position within their team, responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective control solutions that meet customer needs while complying with all relevant legislation and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and successfully implement cost-effective control solutions for projects that meet customer needs, comply with relevant legislation, and stay within budget.
- Stay updated with evolving technologies and implement proven solutions that offer savings to the business.
- Handle detailed design, specification, implementation, FAT testing of control solutions.
- Support sales in developing robust, cost-effective control solutions.
- Proactively value engineer solutions to identify alternative materials and scope change opportunities, ensuring adherence to performance, quality, and compliance standards.
- Attend design reviews and submit designs for approval.
- Be on-site for successful hardware site commissioning and SAT testing of control solutions.
- Work within established procedures and formats.
- Collaborate with departments on receipt of orders and attend handover meetings as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships across departments to facilitate technical consistency for future projects.
- Assist in internal process improvements, waste reduction, and system development, including document management.
- Support team members during absences due to holidays or sickness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
About You:
- 1-3+ years of relevant electrical hardware design experience, including MCC (DOL, ASD, Soft Start & VSD), Switchgear, Control Panels, and LV Distribution/Electrical Installations.
- Experience working in a Systems Integration Environment, collaborating with Software Engineers to develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
- Proven ability in specification, design, installation, and commissioning of electrical equipment with internal or external resources.
- Knowledge of BS EN 61439, BS EN 60204 standards.
- Qualified to the 18th Edition BS 7671 wiring regulations.
- Skilled in producing complex electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, and BOMs.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.
