Join a leading company in the rail industry as an Engineering Apprentice. This one-year apprenticeship combines classroom learning with practical depot work, aimed at developing your engineering skills and gaining a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations. You will work closely with experienced engineers, ensuring all tasks related to Traction & Rolling Stock are completed safely and professionally. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in engineering, be team-oriented, and possess at least two GCSEs including Maths and English.

DB Cargo UK currently has opportunities available to join our Maintenance team at our Stoke site as an Engineering Apprentice.
As an Engineering Apprentice, you will ensure that all work related to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of Traction & Rolling Stock (T&RS) and components is completed safely, thoroughly, professionally, and on time.
This is a one-year apprenticeship combining classroom learning and depot work. We aim to support new talent in gaining a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations through learning with our experienced engineers and building a solid foundation in all aspects of Traction & Rolling Stock.
Closing Date: 25th May 2025
Assessment Centre Date: Week commencing 7th or 14th July 2025 – specific date to be confirmed.
Approximate Start Date: 1st September 2025
The one-year apprenticeship will develop your rail engineering skills through classroom-based learning and hands-on depot tasks, supported by a skills coach and the maintenance team.

Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively and honestly with colleagues is essential.
Safety is our top priority. You must be able to follow instructions, rules, and regulations to ensure all maintenance is performed safely.
You must hold at least two GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or above, live within a 60-minute commute of the depot, and be 18 years or older due to the safety-critical nature of the role. A safety-critical medical assessment will be conducted for all new starters.
