Location: (within 20 mile radius of Skipton, North Yorkshire): Home based, with some travelling.

Role Overview

We are seeking a high-caliber Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and support strategic decision-making. This hands-on role in a dynamic environment is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in financial management and a passion for continuous improvement. You will report directly to the CFO and manage a Management Accountant, taking ownership of management accounts, budgeting, and finance process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver accurate, timely management accounts with insightful commentary.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, reforecasts, and cash flow planning.
• Develop and enhance financial processes and internal controls to support a growing business.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data, providing analysis to support decisions.
• Drive automation and reporting improvements using Excel, Power Query, and other tools.
• Collaborate with operational teams to understand cost drivers and improve financial performance.
• Manage and develop one Management Accountant, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Support the CFO with ad hoc analysis, board reporting, and strategic finance projects.

Skills And Experience Required

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role in a growing, fast-paced business, ideally in care, healthcare, or service-led sectors.
• Exceptional Excel skills: confident with advanced formulas, dynamic arrays, and Power Query.
• Strong understanding of management accounting, budgeting, and financial planning.
• Experience implementing or improving finance systems and processes.
• Able to thrive in a lean, agile environment with a hands-on approach.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate across functions.
• Commercially savvy with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle.
