Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Slough, Buckinghamshire (Remote), this role involves maintaining and commissioning telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fibre optic cables, within designated motorway areas such as the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

As an Operations & Maintenance Engineer, you will work with a supportive team to ensure the reliable operation of critical infrastructure, performing maintenance, repairs, and commissioning activities, and responding to equipment issues both during the day and at night.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing commissioning of equipment to standard, on time and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets.
• Performing general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper cables.
• Completing all necessary documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call as required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
