Job Description:

Equans is looking for a Electrical Manager (Technical Services Manager) to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, Bonus and benefits package.

The new facility is a 9-story acute hospital due for completion soon. The installation of engineering services is advanced, and commissioning is starting on many services. This role involves site-based inspections to ensure construction meets technical, performance, and quality standards, including witnessing testing.

Reporting to the Head of Estates, the post involves assisting in the technical commissioning and mobilization of the hospital, followed by operational responsibilities after opening.

The role includes assisting in delivering high-quality maintenance services, working within a multidisciplinary team, and handling a wide range of skills due to the diverse systems installed. The position may require working at other sites within the Trust's estate and flexible hours to cover shifts, leave, or sickness.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing daily maintenance service delivery and compliance
  • Possessing high-level technical knowledge of complex healthcare electrical systems
  • Conducting technical inspections and evaluations of electrical infrastructure
  • Reviewing performance and commissioning data
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance using Maximo system, adhering to regulations and standards
  • Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers for cost-effective services
  • Budget management and financial controls
  • Monitoring response times and ensuring quality repairs
  • Reviewing work quality of staff and contractors
  • Ensuring adequate shift coverage
  • Regular meetings with staff, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Maintaining safety standards for plant, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Ensuring statutory and departmental compliance, reporting to management
  • Participating in tendering and contractor selection
  • Attending health and safety forums
  • Managing plant data and lifecycle planning
  • Planning condition surveys and action plans
  • Reporting unsafe conditions and emergencies
  • Achieving Authorised Person status in key disciplines
  • Participating in on-call duties and emergency repairs
  • Performing flexible estate duties across various services
  • Attending training and development courses
  • Managing and evaluating staff performance
  • Providing training and advice on resource needs and safety policies
  • Conducting monthly audits to ensure compliance
