Grounds Maintenance Contract Manager

Location: Northampton | Salary: GBP 27,000 - 31,000 + car, 10% pension, private medical

Meadfleet is a land-owning, quality open space management company with a growing and diverse portfolio of over 320 housing developments across England and Wales.

We are seeking a Contract Manager to oversee the management and subcontracted maintenance of public open spaces across the Midlands, including Aylesbury, Banbury, Northampton, Burton upon Trent, Leicester, and Kettering.

Who we are looking for:

• Hold a degree in Horticulture, Ecology, or Conservation, or have equivalent experience; or have 3 years of operative/supervisory experience in grounds maintenance.
• Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and manage both short-term and long-term development goals.
• Passion for delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services.
• Effective communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency in IT.
• Full, clean driving license.
• Ecological and Horticultural credentials or a keen interest are desirable.

The Role:

The Contract Manager will oversee the management and subcontracted maintenance of public open spaces across designated developments in the Midlands region.

This role is ideal for experienced Grounds Maintenance Operatives or Supervisors seeking to move into a managerial position, or seasoned Contract Managers with an interest in horticulture.

Key Tasks:

• Liaising daily with subcontractors to ensure contractual compliance.
• Conducting regular inspections and reporting via our tablet-based app, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
• Building strong relationships with subcontractors, including training and skill development.
• Producing monthly regional reports for the Operations Manager.
• Inspecting playground equipment (training provided) and coordinating repairs.
• Engaging with residents and responding to inquiries with excellent customer service.
• Adhering to Meadfleet's best practice guidelines.
• Identifying opportunities for amenity and biodiversity improvements.

This position requires a satisfactory basic DBS check and a valid driving license.
