Grounds Maintenance Contract Manager

Location: Northampton | Salary: £27,000 – £31,000 + car, 10% pension, private medical

Our client is a land-owning, quality open space management company with a diverse portfolio of over 320 housing developments across England and Wales.

They are seeking a Contract Manager to oversee the management and subcontracted maintenance of public open spaces across the Midlands, including Aylesbury, Banbury, Northampton, Burton upon Trent, Leicester, and Kettering.

Candidate Requirements:

• Degree in Horticulture, Ecology, or Conservation, or equivalent experience; or 3 years’ operative/supervisory grounds maintenance experience.
• Ability to prioritize, solve problems, and manage both short-term and long-term development goals.
• Passion for delivering high-quality grounds maintenance.
• Effective communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficient in IT.
• Full, clean driving license.
• Ecological and horticultural credentials or strong interest preferred.

The Role:

The Contract Manager will oversee the management and subcontracted maintenance of public open spaces across various developments in the Midlands region.

This role is suitable for experienced Grounds Maintenance Operatives or Supervisors looking to move into management, or existing Contract Managers with an interest in horticulture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily liaison with subcontractors to ensure contract compliance.
• Conducting regular inspections and reporting via a tablet-based app, ensuring quality and safety standards.
• Building strong relationships with subcontractors and supporting their skill development.
• Producing monthly reports for the Operations Manager.
• Inspecting playground equipment and coordinating repairs.
• Responding to queries and delivering excellent customer service.
• Following best practice guidelines.
• Identifying opportunities for amenity and biodiversity improvements.

This position requires a satisfactory basic DBS check and a valid driving license.
