Job description

Location: Newmarket

Salary: starting from £24,000 up to £28,000 depending on experience

Hours: Days, Monday - Friday

Our Client, a global testing organisation, is looking to recruit several Analysts for their environmental testing division. We are interested in Chemistry (or MChem or Forensic Chemistry with chromatography experience in degree) graduates or experienced Analysts (GC-MS, ICP, HPLC, LC-MS, etc). Multiple levels available for growth.

Overview Of Role

1. Perform routine & non-routine analysis (GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC) of samples according to documented procedures, or ICP depending on the lab placement.
2. Troubleshoot GC/HPLC instrumentation (e.g., column changes).
3. Assist in generating accurate and timely sample and QC data in line with client expectations and QMS.
4. Maintain ISO 17025 accreditation by following strict testing guidelines.
5. Meet deadlines with a focus on workload prioritization and commercial awareness.
6. Assist in maintenance programs for analytical instrumentation and equipment.
7. Ensure instruments are clean, in good condition, and routine maintenance is up-to-date.
8. Manage reagents and standards stocks, including storage and labeling.
9. Consult with the Divisional Manager if turnaround deadlines are at risk.

The Person

1. Hold a degree in a relevant scientific discipline, ideally Chemistry.
2. Have some exposure to HPLC, GC/MS, or ICP in your degree or experience, preferably within a UKAS 17025 or similar high-throughput setting.
3. Possess strong interpersonal skills and be IT literate.
