Join us as a Private Bank & Wealth Management Lawyer at Barclays. The primary purpose of the role is to provide legal and regulatory coverage for the Private Bank & Wealth Management’s (PBWM) business in the UK and Singapore. The PBWM business offers banking, credit, and investment services to retail and institutional clients across multiple jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will need to:
- Work collaboratively across multiple jurisdictions, supporting the launch of PBWM’s Singapore platform;
- Assist with the development and enhancement of PBWM products and services;
- Support the resolution of complex client complaints;
- Engage on regulatory matters related to PBWM; and
- Work with internal and external counsel on cross-border questions concerning marketing and sales of PBWM products and services.
Essential skills/Basic qualifications:
- Financial Services Regulatory Lawyer or Solicitor, qualified in the UK or an equivalent commonwealth jurisdiction;
- Knowledge of legal risk governance, policies, and procedures;
- Solutions-oriented and resilient in challenging situations.

Purpose of the role
Ensure activities in the PBWM division comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and help manage legal and reputational risks.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement legal strategies to manage compliance risks;
- Provide legal advice on investment, credit, and banking products/services;
- Represent the bank in legal proceedings related to PBWM activities;
- Create and review legal documents to ensure compliance and maintain documentation;
- Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws and regulations;
- Develop and deliver training on legal and regulatory requirements;
- Proactively advise on applicable laws, regulations, and policies, ensuring effective reflection in policies and controls.
