Job Description
Morson Technical Services is currently seeking an Air Stores Control Engineer to join the team at RNAS Yeovilton on a permanent basis.
Job Purpose
To control all priority and State demands for all RNAS Yeovilton based aircraft and user units, ensuring all checks and controls are completed in accordance with working practices before release. To act as the focal point between squadrons, departments, ECS, SCOC, detached operations, and the SLICTs for all priority progression and engineering-related issues at RNAS Yeovilton.
Main Activities and Tasks
- Operate from within the PPC areas at RNAS Yeovilton.
- Support Inventory Controllers in vetting demands that cannot be met from stock and investigate alternative sources of supply.
- Vet demands (including Manual Demands) to ensure correct NATO Stock Number, Part Number, and relevant information.
- Assist in progressing high priority demands to meet RDDs.
- Assign correct priority code, caveats, and RDD to demands.
- Maintain Cannibalisation Logs for aircraft Cannibalisation activities.
- Operate all relevant IT systems, including SAP, MJDI, CIETP, and ModNet.
- Check the ASCO/PPC awaiting Stores action area in ASDER for prompt response.
- Liaise with Inventory Controllers and R2 Repair Manager to review all 2nd Line assets prior to demand submission.
- Ensure ASDER and SDT are updated with the latest supply information.
- Process documentation supporting the Cannibalisation process.
- Respond to technical queries from SLICT and Delivery Teams.
- Establish and maintain relationships with IOS Industry Alliance, MoD Stakeholders, squadrons, user departments, HQ, and the Logistics department.
- Assist in sharing best practices and expediting the return of critical unserviceable assets.
- Deputise for the Priority Progression Cell Controllers and Supply Logistics Leads as required.
- Conduct continuous improvement evaluations of the availability process.
- Undertake other duties as directed by LH Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Highly developed problem-solving abilities in a support environment.
- Knowledge of the Customer's organisation, processes, and procedures.
- Engineering understanding of rotary wing aircraft and their systems.
- Working knowledge of Material Supply processes from Supplier to Customer.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in engineering or logistics, plus 5 years in the defence industry supporting rotary wing aircraft.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead meetings with industry and customer representatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Awareness of aircraft spares and rotables products.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a Service Delivery environment.
- Knowledge of company organisational and operating procedures for business, technical, and procurement areas.
