Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
  • Experience with Military Rotary Wing Helicopter Avionic Systems, implemented at Depth and Forward within MAE, including Certifying & Support Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities.
  • Experience with MAWS or LM-STAR. LM-STAR ensures high mission capability for complex platforms and is a critical asset for Lockheed Martin's PBL program. MAWS refers to Merlin Avionics Workshop.
  • Comprehensive academic knowledge of MAA Regulatory Publications, Air Safety, and Continuing Airworthiness Engineering principles.
  • Relevant experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)—Availability, Reliability, Maintainability Techniques and Analysis.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management Principles and Procedures.
  • Health and Safety Awareness—IOSH Working/Managing Safely.
  • Knowledge of Electrostatic Sensitive Semiconductor Devices and ESD Protected Area policies.
  • Qualified in Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT) & Defence Workplace Trainer (DWT).
  • Computer literacy to ECDL standard or equivalent.

About the Role

Based at Culdrose, Cornwall, the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will plan, coordinate, and perform engineering assignments involving aircraft, engines, systems, components, and field or shop equipment, supporting MAWS and LM-STAR.

LM-STAR is vital for high mission capability, and MAWS is a Merlin Avionics Workshop. Responsibilities include:

  • 3rd line support engineering: testing and repairing parts from aircraft for Navy deployment.
  • Servicing, Repair, Integration, Test, and Modification of Merlin Avionic Systems.
  • Working independently to meet long-term goals.
  • Carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, and configuration activities per regulatory standards.
  • Addressing complex technical problems with innovative solutions.
  • Supporting analysis activities to improve support and asset availability.
  • Acting as MAWS Occupational/Safety/Health Representative.
  • Managing risk assessments, COSHH, and SYPOL data sheets.
  • Handling procurement and storage of flammables.
  • Developing and delivering MAWS training courses.
  • Providing guidance and training to promote personal development.
  • Liaising with support teams and manufacturers on technical issues.
  • Executing additional tasks to support Lockheed Martin programs.
Additional Duties
  • Providing deployed engineering support for test stations, aircraft, and systems as needed.
  • Serving as SME for retrofit upgrades and aircraft support activities.
