You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic, and passionate about emergency care, committed to improving service delivery, and developing nursing practices for children, young people, and families utilizing our services.

The Children's Emergency Department (CED) and Children's Assessment Unit (CAU) are co-located units delivering all aspects of emergency care to approximately 29,000 children and young people per year.

CAU is a 9-bedded unit providing up to 24-hour care to children and young people referred by health professionals for further assessment by a specialist doctor and/or hospital admission.

This area also houses an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) who sees children with minor injuries and illnesses.

Our core values are Include, Respect, and Improve. We encourage you to embrace these values throughout the recruitment process and in your role.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Provide positive role modelling, clinical leadership, and knowledge to facilitate, supervise, and enable high standards of safe, holistic, family-centered, evidence-based care in partnership with the child, family/carers, and the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
  2. Assist in the safe, effective, and efficient operational management of the department and nursing team within allocated resources, including delegated responsibilities in the absence of the Ward/Dept Matron.
  3. Support the delivery and monitoring of infection control measures at ward/departmental level.
  4. Assist in the delivery and monitoring of quality indicators, including patient experience and observation audits.
  5. This role involves rotational duties over a 24-hour period.
