Overview

Join Screwfix as our ESG Data Manager and help shape a more sustainable future!
In this pivotal role, you'll be the go-to expert for all ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) data across Screwfix, while also playing a key part in our group-wide ESG reporting team. You'll have the opportunity to lead the charge in ensuring our ESG, Policy, Sustainability, and Regulatory data is accurate, consistent, and aligned with the highest standards - both internally and externally.

Working closely with teams across the business, you'll build and enhance robust data collection processes and controls, ensuring we not only meet but exceed regulatory requirements. Your expertise will directly improve the quality of our ESG data, supporting Screwfix's commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.

Responsibilities

  • Access, gather and capture information from various data owners within
    Screwfix. Use your expertise to amalgamate, collate, format, and
    consolidate data into a central data lake, automating where possible.
  • Establish and build strong working relationships with internal data owners
    across multiple departments and third parties to embed clear ownership
    responsibilities. Align on ways of working, reporting schedules, and
    governance for required reporting.
  • Provide training/guidance for data owners where necessary to ensure
    understanding of reporting definitions, methodologies, and expectations.
  • Ensure all ESG, policy, and regulatory data reported is accurate, consistent,
    and aligned with Screwfix and Kingfisher definitions and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance and provision of accurate reporting of all ESG regulatory
    & legislative requirements, collaborating with Screwfix legal team.
  • Collaborate with the Group ESG reporting team to integrate ESG data
    processes with existing finance processes.
  • Obtain sign-off from relevant board member for all submissions.
  • Submission of data and reporting to relevant internal and external
    stakeholders (e.g. Group, HMRC, Regulatory organisations)
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in the data collection process and propose
    solutions or tools to enhance the ease and accuracy of compliance
    reporting.
  • Escalate risks/concerns to Line Manager where appropriate, making
    recommendations to mitigate and address as required.
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are complete and updated
    annually, to ensure data is robust and ready for external assurance.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Financial Reporting Manual and Screwfix
    internal controls.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities as part of Screwfix Smart
    Working.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of analysis and reporting of data from diverse sources, transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions.
  • Knowledge of ESG policies and legislative frameworks, with a proactive approach to staying ahead of emerging regulations and industry standards.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information clearly to influence diverse audiences.
  • A strong advocate for sustainability, committed to driving positiveenvironmental and social impact through data-driven insights and initiatives.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload to meet deadlines, ensuring high quality deliverables in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), leveraging these tools to enhance data, reporting, and presentations.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, always seeking new ways to enhance data processes and reporting accuracy.
