About the role

Are you early in your engineering surveying career, ready to grow your skills and make your mark on a landmark UK infrastructure project? The Engineering Surveying Technician (EST) role offers a chance to be part of something extraordinary – supporting the transformation of the A66, a key east–west route that links Cumbria and the North East.

The A66 is not only a critical transport link but also winds through some of the UK’s most awe-inspiring countryside . This role is perfect for someone who wants to develop in a supportive team environment while living and working in the stunning North of England – with easy access to the Lake District, Pennines, and Yorkshire Dales.

What you'll be doing

What You’ll Be Doing

This role is hands-on and varied – ideal for someone eager to get into the detail of survey data collection and management while learning from experienced surveyors. You'll support the wider Engineering Survey team with critical data that ensures every phase of construction is delivered with precision.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Supporting daily site survey activities, both independently and as part of a team
  • Capturing, managing, and organising survey data for use in QA/QC, LTQR packs, and CDEs
  • Assisting with as-built drawings, data packaging, and digital model interpretation
  • Providing accurate site records, diary entries, photographs, and site notes
  • Checking and maintaining survey equipment
  • Helping with safety initiatives, including daily briefings and hazard reporting
  • Collaborating with engineers, contractors, and designers to ensure clarity in construction information
  • Mentoring and guiding junior surveyors, promoting knowledge sharing across the team

Who we're looking for

What You’ll Bring


  • A passion for engineering surveying and a keen eye for detail
  • Experience or qualifications in construction, civil engineering, or surveying (or working towards)
  • Familiarity with digital models, construction schedules, and survey tools/software
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute
  • SSSTS qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
