Job summary

Our Adult Mental Health Inpatient team is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mental Health Nurse to join our friendly team, providing skilled care to adults requiring inpatient admission.

To be successful, you must be a registered nurse, preferably with experience working with individuals with mental health conditions. Compassionate care for patients and their families is essential.

You will play a vital role in the team, aiming to deliver excellent patient care and develop our services in line with national and local guidelines. The role involves working within the wider MDT to implement and evaluate care, supervising junior staff and students.

Main duties of the job
  1. Assess patients/clients, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate care programmes, and perform nursing procedures.
  2. Provide direct nursing care to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  3. Utilize nursing knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the needs of patients, families, and promote health and wellbeing.
  4. Evaluate clinical outcomes and report variances to clinical pathways, protocols, or best practice guidelines.
  5. Contribute to discharge planning and referrals to healthcare providers and support agencies to meet health needs.
  6. Apply diagnostic reasoning and professional judgment to practice issues and decisions.
  7. Manage daily care of patients/clients and assume responsibility in the absence of senior colleagues.
  8. Uphold people's rights under the Mental Health Act 1983.
