Job Summary

If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team based at The Derwent Unit, Chesterfield.

The vacancy is for 37.5 hours per week, working 7.00am - 3.00pm, 5 days a week, with alternate weekends.

The postholder will be required to carry out a deep cleaning service and will be based at The Derwent Unit, covering various properties, with occasional Hotel Services Assistant duties.

Main Duties of the Job

Housekeepers provide a high-class cleaning service to all buildings within the Trust, creating a clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Duties include:

  • Cleaning Duties
  • Damp mopping and buffing all floor surfaces, including machinery use and periodic maintenance as per schedules.
  • Vacuum cleaning of all carpeted areas, including machinery use.
  • Damp dusting radiators, pipes, and ledges.
  • Cleaning furniture and fittings by appropriate methods.
  • High dusting.
  • Cleaning partition glass and interior windows as necessary.
  • Sanitary fitment cleaning.
  • Cleaning wall tiles.
  • Replenishing disposable items like paper towels, soap, and rubbish sacks.
  • Emptying refuse bins and cleaning refuse holders.
  • Cleaning lockers, beds, and mattresses when vacated by patients.
Deep Cleaning Duties
  • Wall washing.
  • Carpet cleaning.
  • Cleaning after major floods (usually with estates staff).
  • Post-cleaning after major building work.
  • Pre-cleaning of newly acquired buildings.
  • Specialised floor and kitchen cleaning.
  • Cleaning following infection outbreaks (on advice of cross-infection nurse).
Ad Hoc Duties
  • Ordering and maintaining cleaning supplies.
  • Reporting defaults, breakages, pests, etc., to relevant personnel.
  • Completing all relevant paperwork as directed by management.
  • Opening and securing buildings following procedures as required.
