Sanderson Recruitment has been exclusively retained to recruit a Lead Electrical Engineer to join Hahn Electricals' dynamic and innovative team. Operating for 30 years, Hahn is a trusted leader in providing electrical engineering solutions for underground mining and industrial sectors. With a skilled team of 250 professionals, the company is renowned for its expertise in 1000-volt mining systems, pump stations, drill rigs, ventilation systems, and custom installations.

The Role

As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will oversee complex projects, deliver technical expertise, and mentor a high-performing engineering team. Reporting directly to the Group General Manager and acting as his 2IC, this position offers a unique opportunity to lead impactful projects in underground mining while maintaining the highest standards of safety, energy efficiency, and reliability.

This Perth-based, hands-on leadership role involves occasional site visits to the Kalgoorlie office. You will provide senior-level technical support and advice across multiple projects, fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and Hahn Group employees.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise, mentor, and support the career development of the engineering team of 6, including engineers and graduates.
• Oversee electrical design and project management services.
• Develop and implement testing and commissioning procedures to meet industry and regulatory standards.
• Manage stakeholder communication, supporting bids, tenders, proposals, and technical submissions.
• Design electrical systems and provide training for engineers and workers in the mining sector.
• Ensure compliance with AS3000 SAA Wiring Rules, WHS regulations, and client requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation and foster open communication across all levels of the business.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, e.g., Electronics/Control Systems.
• Membership in the Institute of Engineers Australia with certifications such as CPEng, CEng, or RPEQ.
• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a management role.
• Expertise in mining systems, HV, variable speed drives, control systems, and PLCs.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SKM Systems Analysis, PowerCad, and Cable Pro.
• Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to thrive in dynamic environments.
• Additional qualifications such as Senior First Aid certification, CAD drafting skills, and an Electrical Worker’s Licence are advantageous.
