Job description

Job Description

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join the Mk2 Radar Team to support management activities across a variety of work packages and Programme forums.

The role requires close liaison with both the incumbent Project Managers and wider Integrated Project Team (IPT), which comprises a large, multi-site, cross-functional team of engineers and professionals from across the business. The role may also occasionally involve Work Package management as required by the Project.

Maintaining customer satisfaction through the timely provision of data to the complex Customer stakeholder community is vital for project success. Effective planning and management of team performance, along with adherence to schedule and cost constraints, are also key responsibilities.

What You Will Do As a Project Manager

  1. Support the Lead Project Manager in managing IPT Project Engineering Leads and various internal functions including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Planning, Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Commercial.
  2. Assist Project Engineering Leads with Work Package Management and risk identification related to budget and schedule.
  3. Support the management of complex projects within the programme.
  4. Manage smaller projects within the programme directly.
  5. Coordinate with the Planning Function to ensure work package status accurately reflects current performance against planned cost and schedule.
  6. Monitor and control all project activities and costs, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  7. Participate in project risk reviews, ensuring risks and opportunities are addressed and their impact on performance assessed.
  8. Assist in managing the transition from development to low rate initial production.
  9. Support management reporting for Multi-Discipline IPT and Sub-contract activities, including project performance reviews and action management.
  10. Promote knowledge sharing and establish clear success criteria for IPT members, utilizing strong communication and planning skills.
  11. Manage and report on IPT activities, including representing the IPT at Project Performance Reviews.
  12. This role is primarily office-based using display screen equipment but requires occasional presence in Laboratory & Manufacturing environments.
  13. Expected on-site presence is about 3 days a week at the Edinburgh site.
  14. Periodic travel within the UK and abroad, with overnight stays as required.
  15. Support bid and proposal generation within short timescales.
