Job Opportunity: Planning Consultant

The Opportunities:

Our well-established Planning and Environment Team, based in multiple UK offices, handles a diverse range of projects including renewable energy, waste, industrial, mineral, commercial, and major infrastructure. We have an exciting pipeline, especially in renewable energy sectors like solar, battery, and wind technologies.

We offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements in friendly environments.

The Role Will Include:

  1. Providing advice on planning and environmental matters to clients such as renewable energy developers, utility and infrastructure companies, waste operators, house builders, land promoters, investment firms, mineral owners, and others throughout all planning stages.
  2. Shaping and assessing development project cases, including planning strategies.
  3. Conducting site appraisals.
  4. Managing pre-application consultations, preparing planning applications and appeals.
  5. Coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) alongside the EIA team.
  6. Managing planning projects, coordinating internal and external technical teams.
  7. Engaging in community consultations.
  8. Representing clients in Local Plan submissions.
  9. Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development.
  10. Liaising with external parties such as developers, landowners, architects, engineers, and planning authorities.
  11. Supervising team activities and providing expert advice.

Candidate Profile:

Ideally, you will have at least 3 years of relevant experience, a relevant degree, and be a chartered planner. You should have a proven track record in managing medium to large-scale planning projects, demonstrating high technical competency, strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. The ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines and solve problems effectively is essential. Experience in Mineral Planning would be advantageous.
