We seek a skilled, experienced, and motivated Design Manager for the Egis Transport Solutions MEPHFC Design Team. The ideal candidate has rail station building services design and coordination experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage Engineers, ensuring the production and delivery of high-quality MEPHFC designs
- Support the Associate Director and oversee team development and empowerment
- Manage resources, ensure compliance with contract and client expectations
- Establish and oversee Technical Assurance processes
- Control project programmes, analyze supply chain, and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure governance with CEM and CREs in line with standards
- Maintain high standards in design deliverables, fostering a get-it-right-first-time culture
- Review design documentation for risk mitigation during construction
- Manage design outputs in accordance with British Standards & Eurocodes, across various project stages
- Coordinate design information in a 3D BIM environment
- Manage CDM and CSM-REA compliance, ensuring risks are minimized (ALARP)
- Produce and maintain design trackers and reports
- Manage RFIs, TQs, and project communications
- Coordinate engineering activities for affordable, safe, and environmentally responsible solutions
- Share knowledge and promote innovation within the group
- Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders
You will also work on:
- Bidding opportunities for UK and international rail projects
- Various projects across the UK and international transportation sectors
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Membership of an engineering institute and Engineering Council registration
- 5-10 years in engineering/technical roles, with at least 2 years in rail
- Proven experience in managing rail design projects
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and management skills
- Experience in multi-disciplinary design and project delivery
- Problem-solving abilities and design interface management
- Knowledge of design assurance and project scope understanding
- Ability to deliver on time and within budget
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Understanding of MEPHFC systems from multiple perspectives
