Job summary

Senior Audiologist/Clinical Scientist - 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has become available for a permanent Band 6 Senior Audiologist depending on experience to join our friendly team. The post holder will have the opportunity to train in a specialist area within the department and the opportunity to attend funded CPD.

The post holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to our patients within a supportive audiology team. We are looking for an individual with experience in Audiology including working with complex patients or someone that would like to learn a specialism in an encouraging NHS department. Good communication skills are essential, as is leadership and excellent patient care attitude. You will have a MSc in Audiology or equivalent qualifications, and be registered, with the ACHS or HCPC, and have some experience working in the NHS or other Healthcare Organisation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work autonomously as an Audiological Scientist with adults, children and neonates, within the Audiology team. They will perform a range of specialist clinical activities including diagnostics and rehabilitation and provide an Adult Audiology service at satellite clinics and in patient's homes as required.

Complex clinic (e.g. paediatric assessment, vestibular assessment) which may include carrying out specific test or procedures, documenting findings, completing clinical reports and communicating with patients / their families regarding findings and management

Maintain a good level of expertise in routine and non-routine testing and rehabilitation methods, to include technical expertise in a range of techniques and procedures. The latter may involve new or emerging technologies and knowledge.

Act as a point of contact for more junior members of the team (e.g. Assistant and Associate Audiologists, Audiologists and less experiences clinical scientists) to discuss cases to ensure all patients receive an equitable service and high quality care.

Transporting expensive equipment, stock (to include hearing aids and consumables) to outstations and undertaking visits to schools as needed.

To keep the patient management system (Auditbase) up to date so that patients progress is monitored and rehabilitation schedules are adhered to, and stock is appropriately managed.
