The Vacancy

Watertrain, part of RSK Group, is currently recruiting for a Water Treatment Technician Learning & Development Coach to join their team in a permanent, full-time position.


This position involves delivering the Level 3 Water Treatment Technician apprenticeship course to a cohort of learners. Watertrain specializes in delivering apprenticeships and qualifications to the water utility sector, and this is an exciting time to join their growing team.


We are looking for individuals to teach the knowledge aspects of the program in a classroom setting, as well as provide one-to-one coaching and competency assessments on-site with learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, coordinate, assess, and review learning activities with learners in the workplace.
  2. Deliver classroom-based training to groups of up to 12 learners.
  3. Conduct training and assessments covering skills and competencies, both on and off-site, based on employer needs.
  4. Provide training and assessment in relevant disciplines to various learners, including new entrants and those upskilling.
  5. Manage a caseload of learners, ensuring timely completion within agreed timescales.
  6. Work with employers and learners to create Individual Learning Plans with clear milestones and targets.
  7. Monitor learner progress, conduct formal reviews at least every 12 weeks, and address any concerns.
  8. Track and record vocational progress, report, and take action as needed.
  9. Contribute to quality assurance procedures, including internal quality assurance.
  10. Participate in review and evaluation processes for continuous improvement.
  11. Provide feedback on learners' work, including marking and guidance.
  12. Assess and monitor portfolios, ensuring completion within deadlines.
  13. Complete assessment documentation to audit standards.
  14. Comply with quality assurance standards of internal and external organizations.
  15. Maintain and update professional knowledge and participate in staff development activities.
  16. Follow safeguarding procedures and ensure learners understand their importance.
Person Specification:
  • Experience in water treatment installation and maintenance, with supervisory or management experience.
  • Confidence in knowledge and experience, with enthusiasm for mentoring others.
  • Good IT and communication skills, and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to travel and work at client sites.
  • Interest in working for the UK's leading water sector training provider.
