Proposals Manager x2 — Beaconsfield (Hybrid: 1-2 days in the office per week) £60k - £70k Package

The Role
As a Proposals Manager, you will join the successful Strategic Work Winning Team responsible for securing work and expanding the business. You will collaborate with Bid Directors to lead large, significant bids across England in three sectors: Highways Maintenance, Street Lighting, and Projects. You will support multiple bids simultaneously. The role is primarily home-based, with some in-person engagement required at the office, depending on the bid stage.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate strategic bids, especially larger TMC and Project Sector bids, managing bid programme, quality submissions, and pricing.
- Hands-on bid writing, from storyboard to final submission, taking ownership of questions and deliverables.
- Collaborate with and influence the bid team to establish win themes, differentiators, and tender strategies.
- Assist the Bid Director in managing bid teams and stakeholder inputs across business development, estimating, writing, commercial, and operational units.
- Develop and monitor detailed bid programmes, identify critical paths, and ensure progress is tracked weekly, seeking approval from senior stakeholders.
- Communicate bid timelines across SMEs and support teams to meet milestones.
- Plan and coordinate client presentations and negotiation preparations.
- Support prequalification, workshops, and bid writing activities.
- Lead writing teams, manage weekly/daily calls, track progress, and support writers.
- Manage line management responsibilities for writers, providing coaching and development.
- Review quality documentation and peer review across sectors to promote cross-sector learning.
- Ensure bid commitments are clear, aligned with pricing and quality submissions.
- Own and maintain the Bid Management Workbook (BMW), ensuring accuracy and version control, coordinating with bid administration.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- APMP Certification is desirable.
- Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word.
- Understanding of work-winning procedures and review processes.
- At least 5 years’ experience with multi-million-pound construction bids.
- Excellent communication skills for effective team engagement.
- Interpersonal skills to influence and negotiate with all organisational levels.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written (formal and informal).
- Project/Programme Management qualification or equivalent experience managing large projects with multidisciplinary teams.
