This role would suit someone with experience as a Buyer within Construction who is keen to join a fast-growing specialist contractor.

About the Company:

Our client is a rapidly expanding and industry-leading specialist contractor with offices across the M4 corridor from Cardiff to London. The company offers design, installation, and maintenance of unified structured data cabling systems for modern business connectivity (Cat 5e, 6, 6a, 7). They have over 30 years of experience delivering projects in both public and private sectors, working with Tier 1 main contractors and directly with clients, including government departments, data centers, educational institutions, correctional facilities, and healthcare establishments. Projects often exceed GBP1 million and are part of major construction initiatives nationwide.

The Role:

Due to growth, an excellent opportunity exists for an experienced construction Buyer to join the regional commercial team. The role involves managing procurement across the company, including direct and indirect materials and sub-contracts. Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Buyer will work closely with project teams to improve efficiency in procurement processes.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement procurement systems and processes as needed.
2. Assist with material specifications during the design phase of large projects.
3. Generate tender documents, seek quotations, negotiate prices, and place orders for materials.
4. Negotiate group term deals, fixed-price agreements, and rebates.
5. Maintain a library of products and prices.
6. Support cost exercises, tender analysis, and pricing of extras.
7. Manage the use of plant and hired equipment.
8. Identify discrepancies in drawings.

The Person:

• Solid experience with a national or regional main contractor or specialist contractor.
• Experience in construction procurement; M&E or structured cabling experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Proven track record as a dedicated Buyer.
• Innovative mindset, with the ability to improve processes.
• Team player eager to contribute to a growing business.
• Must be able to commute daily to Weston HQ with site visits as required.
