Job description

Who is Dundee Pride?

Dundee Pride is a registered charity committed to taking a positive stance against discrimination and violence towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus (LGBTQ+) community. Our mission is to promote LGBTQ+ equality, awareness, and inclusion within Dundee and the surrounding region. We aim to create a city and region where LGBTQ+ individuals feel a strong sense of community, are visible, and can celebrate their history, activism, and diversity.

Our inaugural Dundee Pride event was held in 2018 in Dundee's city square, and after the pandemic, we returned with a vibrant event in 2023. Attendees can enjoy a pride march, a village with stage performances, workshops, food, and beverages.

About the Role:

We are seeking volunteers for our 2025 Dundee Pride event. Volunteers will be needed during the lead-up to the event, starting with setup on Friday, June 13th, the event day on Saturday, June 14th, and takedown on Sunday, June 15th, all in Dundee city centre. Event volunteers play a vital role in supporting stage performances, workshops, and the pride market by maintaining a clean and welcoming environment and ensuring a positive atmosphere. Responsibilities may also include supporting social media content, litter picking, liaising with attendees, and more.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in an exciting annual event supporting the LGBTQ+ community as a member or ally, while developing skills that could benefit future opportunities or employment. The event provides a space for people with shared values to meet, enjoy performances and workshops, and connect with each other. Volunteering is a meaningful way to be part of this experience.

Previous experience is not required to volunteer at Dundee Pride, although an interest in LGBTQ+ equality or event coordination is beneficial.

This is a one-off volunteering opportunity, with additional opportunities to volunteer at other events throughout the year if desired. These can be discussed with our team.

About Your Application:

Interested applicants will be invited to an introductory session prior to the event to meet other volunteers and members of Dundee Pride. If you need support getting involved, please contact Lisa at lisa.munro@dundeepride.com. Please note that much of the event is held at Slessor Gardens, where the ground is grass.

If you are interested in volunteering, you will be contacted to attend an informal induction session to learn more about the role and our organization. No prior experience is necessary, and support will be provided for new volunteers.
