About the job

We are exclusively recruiting for a health-tech AI startup in London that is building the AI infrastructure that makes LLMs safe, transparent, and reliable—so they can actually be used in clinical settings. They are backed by Google DeepMind, HuggingFace, and one of the leading VC funds globally.

We're looking for a Founding Product Engineer to join a team of Oxford Scholars, doctors, and ML Interpretation Researchers to help build the company from the ground up. We seek someone who thrives in ambiguity, cares deeply about users and customers, and is excited to shape both their product and engineering culture from day one.

The Role

1. Design, build, and ship features across the stack—frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
2. Work primarily with technologies such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, Postgres, Python, and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP; help evolve the stack as the product scales.
3. Build intuitive user experiences with modern frontend frameworks and tools.
4. Architect backend systems, APIs, and services with scalability, performance, and simplicity in mind.
5. Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automated testing.
6. Collaborate closely with founders, product, and design teams to prioritize and rapidly iterate on features.
7. Engage with end users and clients directly, gather feedback, and translate it into product improvements.
8. Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
9. Establish engineering best practices, including code quality, documentation, security, and testing.
10. Help build and shape the early engineering team and culture.
