Job Title: Fire Door Project Manager
Location: Gravesend, Kent
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Job Purpose:
The Fire Door Project Manager will oversee the efficient and profitable scheduling and dispatching of Fire Door Fitters to carry out both minor and major projects in line with customer requirements and industry standards. The role demands excellent customer service, strong management skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to perform well under pressure. A proactive approach and close collaboration with various business departments are essential in supporting our Customer Charter and ensuring we exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the manager to support the fire door installation and production teams in meeting customer expectations, maintaining effective communication with both customers and colleagues.
  • Attend client meetings on-site and via Teams as required.
  • Review daily works schedules and provide proactive updates to customers on preliminary attendance dates, ensure accurate planning and data management for project forecasts and reports.
  • Monitor engineers’ activity to ensure smooth workflow, address potential delays or issues, and keep clients informed of progress.
  • Foster strong working relationships with fitters, production teams, and account managers to ensure all projects exceed customer expectations.
  • Conduct quality control and performance reviews for fire door fitters.
  • Manage stock control and order materials for current and upcoming projects.
  • Review job performance and margins with the manager, contributing to monthly reporting.
  • Respond promptly and proactively to project-related messages via phone and email from both external customers and internal colleagues.
  • Stay up-to-date with standards such as BS 476-22, BS 8214, and other relevant global and UKAS test schemes (IFC, BM-Trada, Firas, Bluesky, LCPB).
  • Book works with sites according to customer and site requirements.
  • Keep clients informed about work progress and any changes to specifications or schedules.
  • Process orders to ensure work is completed on time for invoicing, which will be processed upon completion of the work.
  • Maintain company and client KPIs, as well as client SLAs.

  • Self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic with a proactive attitude.
  • Clear communicator with a professional telephone manner when interacting with both colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow processes accurately.
  • Respectful towards others, including customers, colleagues, engineers, managers, and directors.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a structured manner.
Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the passive fire industry, with exposure to engineering projects across single and multiple site locations.
  • Solid technical knowledge and experience in managing fire door installation projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a solution-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Passion for working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
