Job description

We are very excited to announce an opportunity to be part of our team as our Anti Racist Education Lead!

Role Overview

In this role, you'll support schools in the Westmorland & Furness Council area to embed anti-racist practices, enabling staff to better understand, address, and prevent racism.

You'll work intensively with 20 schools and provide the following support to all schools in the area:

  1. Guidance on ongoing issues
  2. Monthly online drop-in surgeries for all schools and early years
  3. Termly online training linked to the lesson plan resource and package for The Fell We Climb (an ARC resource)
  4. Development of an education resource hub for schools
Additional Responsibilities

When needed, you will be involved in responding to racist incidents in schools, working with teachers and stakeholders such as police and the council. Your role, supported by the ARC Team, includes supporting the child and family while holding the school and stakeholders accountable.

Candidate Requirements
  • An in-depth understanding of anti-racism and its integration into educational settings
  • Strong experience in safeguarding, health and safety, the national curriculum, SEND code of practice, OFSTED, and UK school processes
  • Patience, flexibility, and resilience
  • Understanding of how to be emotionally and physically resourced to undertake this work

Work with schools will commence at the start of the 2025/26 school year. This is a one-year, fixed-term, full-time role funded by Westmorland & Furness Council.
