Job description

Job Opportunity: Anti Racist Education Lead

We are excited to offer a position as our Anti Racist Education Lead! In this role, you will support schools in the Westmorland & Furness Council area to embed anti-racist practices, helping staff understand, address, and prevent racism.

You will work closely with 20 schools and provide the following support:

  1. Guidance on ongoing issues
  2. Monthly online drop-in surgeries for all schools and early years
  3. Termly online training linked to the lesson plan resource and package for The Fell We Climb (an ARC resource)
  4. Development of an education resource hub for schools

When necessary, you will respond to racist incidents in schools, collaborating with teachers, police, and other stakeholders. Your role, supported by the ARC Team, involves supporting children and families while holding schools and stakeholders accountable.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • An in-depth understanding of anti-racism and its integration into educational settings
  • Strong experience with safeguarding, health and safety, the national curriculum, the SEND code of practice, OFSTED, and UK school processes
  • Patience, flexibility, and resilience
  • An understanding of how to be emotionally and physically resourced for this work
