Job description

Job Title: Site Engineer

We are seeking a Site Engineer to join our KierBam JV project at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, Devon. KierBAM is a joint venture between Kier and Bam Nuttall, currently delivering a redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site.

Location

Site Based, Plymouth, Devon

Hours

Permanent, 45 hours per week

Responsibilities

As a Site Engineer, you'll work within the Nuclear team, supporting the delivery of the redevelopment project at the Dockyard. Your daily tasks will include:

1. Assist in recording and testing workmanship and materials such as drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork, etc.
2. Provide engineering support to resolve technical problems and answer technical queries.
3. Set out works within allowable tolerances.
4. Regularly check setting out points and benchmarks, ensuring all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are calibrated and recorded.
5. Maintain setting out and dimensional control to ensure accurate construction.

Candidate Requirements

This role is ideal for candidates with:

1. A degree in civil engineering or equivalent (e.g., BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech) or completion of a Higher Apprenticeship.
2. Experience with Leica Survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Optical & digital levels) for setting out and surveying.
3. Experience in a similar role.

Security Clearance

Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, BPSS security clearance is required. Processing may take up to 8 weeks. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years will be considered.
