Solutions Development Professional

This role acts as a business consultant with extensive knowledge of supply chain and freight forwarding, passionate about advancing the industry through technology and digitisation. The successful candidate will develop, position, and demonstrate product-specific solutions during sales and consultative cycles, supporting commercial and account management teams to deliver compelling value propositions to customers.

Purpose

The role involves working closely with account and business development managers to identify, qualify, and pitch value propositions to new and existing customers. For existing clients, the focus is on developing strategic partnerships through joint value creation initiatives. The candidate must act as a trusted advisor, demonstrating customer-centric, value-driven conduct, and delivering high-impact engagement via thought leadership and industry expertise.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Build partnership engagement with assigned customers through joint strategy development and workshops to understand their ambitions and needs, developing tailored value propositions for Metro’s solutions.
  • Proactively qualify opportunities with Commercial and Key Account teams, supporting go/no-go decisions.
  • Manage supply chain development projects from qualification to value proposition delivery, including proposal discussions with customers in a consultative manner.
  • Create Metro’s value propositions, coordinating virtual, cross-functional teams, and engaging stakeholders across account management, commercial, operations, and technical solutions.
  • Coordinate sign-offs with Metro’s commercial leads before customer presentation.
  • Support ongoing customer engagement and project transition to implementation leads.
  • Organise and facilitate internal and customer workshops to understand strategies, business models, and supply chain challenges.
  • Build and position business cases underpinning value propositions, considering trade-offs, risks, and strategic alignment.
  • Establish mechanisms to measure and manage client value delivery.
  • Coach Commercial and Key Account teams towards a more consultative approach.
  • Continuously improve supply chain design tools and methodologies.
  • Document and formalise project innovations as case studies and references.
  • Participate in RFx processes, contributing strategic solutions and value proposals.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills

  • 5-10 years experience in strategic supply chain management, transformation, and delivery projects.
  • Operational knowledge from Freight Forwarding, 3PL, 4PL, or logistics service providers, manufacturing, or consulting backgrounds.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management and business acumen, including basic financial skills.
  • Experience with process mapping and re-engineering (Six Sigma, SCOR, or similar).
  • Ability to analyze data, derive insights, and quantify customer value.
  • Knowledge of supply chain systems and digital technology applications.
  • Understanding of local and international markets.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related fields (preferred but not mandatory).
