Job description

One of my local government clients is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Communications Officer on a temporary basis. This role is a minimum 3-month contract with the possibility of extension, working Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

It is a hybrid role, requiring attendance at the office 2-3 times a week.

Overview:

To support the Communications Manager in protecting and enhancing the reputation of the council. The role aims to increase public satisfaction through effective campaigns and improve staff engagement in collaboration with the Communications Manager and HR team.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement communication campaigns to engage and inform the public about the council and its services, evaluating their impact.
2. Build strong relationships with service departments to identify best practices and promote positive messages to media and residents, enhancing the council's reputation.
3. Assist in developing and maintaining the council's brand consistency across all channels.
4. Utilize social media platforms to strengthen the council's reputation and engagement with residents and customers.
5. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with media and partner organizations to support the council's reputation.
6. Communicate effectively with customers at the appropriate level, demonstrating a customer-focused approach.
7. Support the council's Strategic Plan and undertake necessary training and development.
8. Comply with the Council's policies on Equal Opportunity, Health and Safety, IT Security, and Emergency Planning.
9. Perform any other duties appropriate to the grade of the position.
