Manufacturing and Engineering Buyer

Worcestershire, On-site, Global Manufacturing

We're looking for a proactive and results-driven Buyer to join this dynamic Purchasing Department within this global manufacturer of specialist equipment. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a defined supplier portfolio, predominantly supplying components for general assembly, within a fast-paced and evolving supply chain environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage supply chain deliveries in line with ERP system requirements.
  • Work closely with suppliers to maintain high product quality and resolve issues swiftly.
  • Source and negotiate new components to support new product introduction and machine development.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities and drive supply chain efficiencies.
  • Support the development of suppliers and commodity strategies.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records to ensure compliance with ISO standards and business procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and trade compliance (e.g., Preferential Origin, CBAM, UK/EU Sanctions).
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • CIPS certification or equivalent professional purchasing qualification would be desirable
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing environments and processes.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements within a global supply chain.
  • Ability to build and manage strong supplier relationships.
  • Skilled in cost analysis, negotiation, and commercial decision-making.
  • Excellent planning, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Capable of strategic thinking and embracing change.
  • Proven ability to plan, schedule, and execute effectively in line with business priorities.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Highly conscientious with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and confident under pressure.
  • Commercially and risk-aware with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Broad understanding of supply chain concepts and best practices.
