GRX Holdings, LLC, a privately held company based in West Des Moines, owns 22 Medicap Pharmacy retail locations. Our purpose is to provide consistent, quality personal service, genuinely care for our patients' health, provide essential health information, and be readily available to our patients.

We are seeking an efficient, flexible, and highly motivated Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team full-time as a Manager at our Medicap Pharmacy in Carlisle, IA.

Job Overview

Under indirect supervision, oversees all aspects of pharmacy operations, including patient services, administration, and personnel supervision. Provides a full range of patient services by filling prescriptions, counseling patients, and supervising Pharmacy Technicians. Ensures all services comply with professional standards and applicable laws. Exercises broad judgment in a professional field requiring extensive subject matter knowledge and expertise, while keeping senior management fully informed of operational issues and results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this position. They are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. This role requires on-site attendance.

  1. Interpret written prescriptions, check for drug interactions and allergies, enter prescription and patient data into the computer system, and provide prescription information to Pharmacy Technicians for filling.
  2. Supervise Technicians during prescription filling and check all work for accuracy.
  3. Ensure accurate billing in compliance with insurance plans, CMS, and the board of pharmacy.
  4. Serve patients by counseling over the phone and in person.
  5. Convey pertinent information regarding medication usage and duration.
  6. Answer patient questions.
  7. Consult with healthcare professionals and conduct research to ensure services are in the best interests of the patient and compliant with standards and laws.
  8. Perform all duties of Staff Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
  9. Maintain regular communication with the Regional Director of Operations regarding business conduct and issues requiring senior management attention.
  10. Assume overall responsibility for daily store operation and patient care delivery.
  11. Provide staff training as necessary.
  12. Support company initiatives related to marketing, clinical programs, and operations.
  13. Participate in community outreach events, including talks, programs, immunizations, diabetic shoes, etc.
  14. Obtain and maintain Immunization Certification and promote clinics.
  15. Maintain state pharmacy licenses.
  16. Maintain punctual attendance, serving as a role model.
  17. Develop professional relationships with patients, customers, and staff.
  18. Comply with security and loss prevention procedures.
  19. Maintain a perpetual Schedule II Inventory.
  20. Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct annual evaluations of pharmacy personnel.
  21. Prepare and monitor staffing schedules.
  22. Follow up on billing rejections, rebilling, and claim resolution.
  23. Maintain daily and weekly reports.
  24. Follow procedures related to dispensing incidents and report as necessary.
  25. Ensure compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations.
  26. Mentor pharmacy students, including participation as a rotation site.
  27. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage all pharmacy employees, overseeing their hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline in accordance with policies and laws.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (BA) or Pharm.D from an accredited pharmacy college. Four to ten years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
