Troqueer Primary School

Troqueer Primary School is situated in South West Dumfries and has a current mainstream school roll of over 260 pupils and a Nursery with capacity for 53 children. We are an inclusive school which strives to provide the best quality of education for life, with the needs of pupils at the centre of all we do. Troqueer Primary is a school where all are active, challenged and engaged in their learning, with a committed team of professionals who provide a high standard of primary education in a friendly, relaxed, supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Depute Headteacher who displays a passion for learning on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will exhibit experience of leading and managing aspects of school improvement and will have demonstrable knowledge of a breadth of teaching skills and practice across all stages. As part of the school management team, they will assist in steering the strategic direction and lead curricular development.

They display a commitment to working in partnership with staff, parents and the wider community to provide quality learning experiences, helping to equip pupils with the skills to become successful, confident and responsible contributors to the world they live in.

This post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in leading and developing high quality learning and teaching, sustaining improvement and raising achievement and attainment with the best outcomes for all our pupils.

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only). Please see attached guidance for further information.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
