Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: London (Canary Wharf) – Hybrid (1–2 days/week on site, parking available)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £70,000 (DOE)
Security Checks: Financial checks may apply
The Opportunity
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a well-established organisation during a transformative time in their infrastructure journey, and networking is right at the centre of it.
You'll be joining a small, collaborative team with a modern, cloud-hosted estate and a clear roadmap.
The infrastructure is stable and maturing, with low incident volumes, but there's plenty of opportunity to improve and modernise, from implementing disaster recovery testing to building toward an Infrastructure-as-Code and SecDevOps future.
This is more than a support role, you'll help shape how the organisation evolves its network capability over the next 12–18 months.
As a Senior Engineer experienced in leading complex projects and influence architecture, this is your chance to be part of a journey.
The Role
You'll be a key part of the infrastructure team, working with experienced engineers and contractors to maintain and improve network services across a predominantly cloud-hosted environment. You'll have broad exposure across Cisco, Azure, and security tooling — supporting BAU, delivering infrastructure projects, and helping evolve the network towards greater automation and resilience.
You Will
- Own and maintain network services across cloud and on-prem environments
- Deliver and contribute to infrastructure projects from planning to implementation
- Manage escalated issues and support senior decision-making through analysis and recommendations
- Document architecture, change, and configuration clearly and effectively
- Contribute to continual improvement across performance, automation, and security
- Support wider corporate and transformation initiatives as required
- Work with peers to move the network towards Infrastructure as Code practices
- Mentor junior team members and participate in knowledge-sharing
The Person:
You'll be hands-on, collaborative, and motivated to make a difference. You'll be comfortable switching between BAU, projects, and strategic improvement work, and confident getting into the weeds of implementation — not just plugging cables, but configuring, deploying, and improving full-stack solutions.
You Should Have
- Strong experience with Cisco routing and switching, including SD-WAN
- Deep understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, MP-BGP), IPSec, VXLAN
- Proven experience with Cisco ISE and 802.1x
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls (PAN-OS & Panorama)
- Working knowledge of Azure networking – including peering, routing, ExpressRoute, NLBs
- Familiarity with cloud networking beyond basic VM deployment
- Strong documentation and communication skills across stakeholders
- Proven blend of project delivery and BAU support
Bonus Experience Would Be
- Exposure to Python, Ansible, or automation tooling
- Experience with Cisco Firepower, MPLS, or F5 BIG-IP
- Azure certifications (AZ-900, AZ-700) or Cisco (CCNP/CCIE)
- Interest in Infrastructure as Code and DevOps principles
- Any experience designing and running networking projects end to end
Why Join?
- Stable, secure organisation with long-term investment in people
- Flexible hybrid working with great culture and collaboration
- Be part of a team at the beginning of a modernisation journey
- Work with a modern, cloud-first network stack
- Grow your skills with training, cert support, and wide exposure
