Brain Injury Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Brain Injury Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and support to our client within a care home, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.

About the Client:

Our client is in his 70s with a brain injury from a scooter accident. He has weakness in his right arm and leg, affecting mobility, and suffers from vertigo, mild epilepsy, intermittent hearing loss, and tinnitus.

He has a passion for trains and motorbikes, especially Harley Davidsons. Shared interests are essential for success in this role and to build a strong relationship.

Since he resides in a care home, this role does not involve personal care, moving & handling, or clinical duties. You will work with his OT to provide therapeutic support, which may include being trained to give hand massages and spending short shifts focusing on companionship and daily activities such as watching TV, reading, and garden walks, while assessing his engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support, therapeutic interaction, and companionship.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in the client's condition.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably with brain injury experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Energetic, upbeat, and empathetic personality.
  • Interest in trains and motorbikes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work the specified hours.
  • Supportive and friendly working environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • DBS check paid for.
  • Excellent training program.
  • Blue Light Card eligibility.
