We're a vibrant, fast-paced food manufacturer employing 13,300 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots nationwide. We supply all the UK's food retailers with a range of products from sandwiches, soups, and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles, and ready meals. In FY24, we generated revenues of £1.8bn. Our extensive direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network, consisting of 17 depots, enables us to make over 10,500 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce, as well as third-party products.

Here in Boston, we employ around 400 colleagues and produce ready-to-eat salads, prepared vegetables, and snacks for major retailers such as Coop, Boots, Greggs, Costco, Spar, and BOL.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Project Engineer at Boston, you will report to the Engineering Project Manager and be part of our central projects team. Your role involves designing, planning, and deploying engineering solutions to enhance the assets on site. Some of our exciting projects over the next year include:

  1. Continuing refrigeration improvements on site
  2. Installing a new transformer unit
  3. Implementing a new effluent treatment plant

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Planning and delivering the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing productivity
  2. Ensuring new equipment drawings and preventative maintenance recommendations are transferred to the maintenance team's files
  3. Developing User Requirement Specifications (URS) to establish clear objectives and standards for project planning
  4. Taking designs from engineering project managers and creating AutoCAD drawings as specifications
  5. Following directions from the engineering project manager to complete design costings or installation tasks for large projects

This is a Monday to Friday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm) position, with some flexibility required, including willingness to work night shifts when necessary.

What We're Looking For

As a Project Engineer, you will bring your project delivery experience and ideally possess:

  1. PMI, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar project management software
  3. Experience working with AutoCAD or similar design software to produce specifications
  4. Qualification and ability to assess machine safety

Experience in the food industry or as a project engineer is a plus. We also welcome applications from engineers seeking to transition into project roles, as well as recent engineering graduates. At Greencore, we value diversity and help our people make every day taste better. We are proud of our inclusive culture.

If this sounds like you, join us, grow with Greencore, and help drive our future success.

What You'll Get in Return
  1. Competitive salary and benefits
  2. Holiday entitlement
  3. Pension scheme with up to 8% matched contributions
  4. Company share save scheme
  5. Exclusive Greencore employee discount platform

Throughout your time at Greencore, you'll receive on-the-job training and development opportunities to further your career.
