What Is the Opportunity?

Our Corporate team uses their specialist expertise to offer bespoke insurance solutions to our largest and most complex clients in the UK and Ireland. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our team in any of our UK or Ireland offices.

In this interesting and varied role, you will be involved from the early stages of client engagement through close interaction and collaboration with our colleagues in Risk Control, Claim, and other critical stakeholders both in the UK and the US. You’ll be responsible for triaging new business opportunities and developing prospects, leading the technical underwriting of these risks, and helping to deliver Travelers’ bespoke customer proposition. You’ll manage an assigned allocation of large cross-class renewal accounts and will also be one of the primary contacts for our regional underwriting teams, providing technical support to assist in writing new business and retaining our existing accounts with our broking partners.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full-time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro-rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

This role is eligible for a £2,500 new joiner bonus. If you are successfully referred by an employee at Travelers Europe, both you and the person who referred you could be eligible for this bonus.

  • Assist in the development and leveraging of broker / client relationships through a high level of visibility.
  • Act as large case expert both internally and externally.
  • Assist the Director of Corporate to determine sector strategy.
  • Encourage others to help achieve underwriting, sales, and production goals and work towards strategic objectives.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in Head Office, Risk Control, Claims, Actuarial, and other parts of the organization as needed.
  • In exercising own underwriting authority, ensure that policies and accounts are effectively underwritten, handled, and documented in compliance with company and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Develop and leverage broker / client relationships through high visibility and a disciplined sales management approach (e.g., planning and follow-up for broker and prospective customer visits / meetings) in support of business objectives.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service standards (consistency, quick response, knowledge of products).
  • Engage with customers to meet response time and product knowledge expectations.
  • Work strategically and tactically with brokers to ensure they understand BI goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
