Job Summary:
About the Role & Team
Under the oversight of the Dry Dock Interiors Manager, you will manage the execution of approved dry dock scope of work for fleet interiors maintenance (sustainment) projects during the dry-docking period.
You will join a dedicated team responsible for maintaining high standards of our fleet's interiors, collaborating with departments like hotel operations, marine and technical operations, and environmental compliance to ensure seamless project execution. We prioritize safety, quality, and innovation, always seeking new ideas to improve our operations.
As a key team member, you will work with industry professionals and contribute to the success of dry dock projects.
This role is based in Disney Cruise Line’s London Hammersmith office and requires approximately 3 months of global travel per year, including full presence during dry dock periods.
What You Will Do
- Develop, plan, and execute interiors maintenance projects during the dry-docking period.
- Write detailed scopes of work and technical specifications for interiors maintenance projects.
- Provide documentation, including technical specifications for scope delivery.
- Create technical product specifications and consult with external bodies for compliance and industry best practices.
- Evaluate vendor proposals, providing detailed analysis and recommendations.
- Research new ideas, products, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
- Update relevant documentation within project and maintenance management systems (AMOS).
- Coordinate with operational partners like hotel operations, Marine & Technical Operations, ADA, and Environmental compliance for planning.
- Collaborate with Shipyard, Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), vendors, and regulatory bodies for scope delivery.
- Manage consulting team members involved in specific project areas.
- Act as primary contact for shipboard leadership regarding dry dock maintenance work.
- Gather feedback from ship's leadership on project delivery and support needs.
- Coordinate technical support and scope management with shipboard senior management.
- Work with DCL Purchasing and internal partners on equipment and materials.
- Negotiate contracts balancing quality and cost.
- Manage project costs to stay within budget and deadlines.
- Oversee quality assurance during all project phases and provide feedback.
- Verify safety considerations are addressed in all aspects.
- Ensure vendor safety standards and project outcomes meet Disney’s quality and safety requirements.
- Provide regular project updates and reports.
- Supervise subcontractors onboard, coordinating with ship leadership on technical and safety matters.
- Ensure subcontractors provide safety certifications, drawings, and manuals.
- Uphold safety management responsibilities in areas under your control.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Higher education in Maritime Engineering, Design, Project or Facilities Management, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in the Maritime Industry, especially with Passenger Vessels.
- Project Management experience, preferably with formal qualifications.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Dry Dock experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency with project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards for cruise ship interiors.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site during dry-docking periods.
