Application Support Engineer - £700 p/d Inside IR35 – Trade Surveillance

The role of the Application Support Engineer involves delivering technical and procedural assistance to internal teams and external stakeholders in the front office. The analyst will manage incidents, troubleshoot application problems, and resolve outages swiftly. Collaboration with infrastructure, service desk, and broader IT teams is essential, requiring a proactive approach and ownership of support responsibilities.

This position requires experience with Trading Platforms and Trade Surveillance, working within Front Office Teams.

Key responsibilities include PowerShell scripting and working with SQL, including navigation, tables, and schemas.

Location of work: Hybrid (3 days in the office), London

Expertise: PowerShell Scripting (REQUIRED), SQL, understanding of trade lifecycle and trade surveillance

Skills needed:

• Proficiency in Windows and Linux/Unix environments, with solid SQL, Oracle database, and server infrastructure knowledge, including platforms like ION, IBM MQ, Deltix, TT, and ATEO.
• Financial services background, with insight into trading, clearing, and settlement processes across various markets.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to build relationships across teams and vendors.
• Methodical approach with experience in ITIL, change management, and system/process improvements.
• Experience with API onboarding, FIX messaging, market connectivity protocols, and high-frequency trading support; shift work and critical upgrade management.
• Experience supporting clients in technical advisory roles, with knowledge of compliance and risk in regulated environments.
• Strong PowerShell skills are essential.
