Job description

Job Title: Network Infrastructure Engineer

Location: London (Canary Wharf) – Hybrid (1–2 days per week)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + Good Benefits package

Security Clearance: Financial background check will apply

The Opportunity

We are looking for a mid-level Network Engineer to join an organisation going through a significant IT transformation. With a cloud-first approach and a renewed focus on continuous improvement, you'll play a key part in enhancing the stability, performance, and modernisation of the network estate.

The company is investing heavily in both its people and its infrastructure. With most of the core infrastructure already in Azure, they're now shifting towards automation, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps principles.

You'll be part of a collaborative team that works closely across infrastructure, projects, and architecture, with the space and support to develop your technical skills in a growing and evolving environment.

The Role

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you'll support a blend of business-as-usual operations and strategic project delivery. Working closely with the Network Manager and wider engineering team, you'll help ensure the smooth running, security, and advancement of the network landscape.

You Will

  • Support day-to-day operations and incident management across a hybrid cloud network
  • Deliver technical input into IT and business change projects
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and firewall issues
  • Contribute to system documentation, network diagrams, and process improvements
  • Engage in the move towards network automation and Infrastructure as Code

The Person:

This role is best suited to a Network Infrastructure Engineer with a solid foundation in Cisco networking, cloud networking (preferably Azure), and a desire to broaden their expertise into areas like automation and DevOps.

You should be confident taking ownership of technical issues and implementing stable, secure, and scalable solutions.

Required Experience

  • Solid hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches (Catalyst/Nexus), and SD-WAN
  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls (Panorama / PAN-OS)
  • Comfortable with Cisco ISE and 802.1x
  • Working knowledge of Azure networking (e.g., VNets, NLB, ExpressRoute, routing)
  • Experience resolving BAU issues and supporting project-based delivery
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills

Desirable experience:

  • Familiarity with Python or Ansible for scripting and automation
  • Experience with SolarWinds (NPM/APM/NetFlow)
  • Awareness of ITIL practices
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or AZ-700 are advantageous but not essential

Why Apply:

  • Work in a stable, low-incident environment with a clear roadmap for improvement
  • Hybrid working (1–2 days on-site) with flexible arrangements
  • Gain exposure to modern technologies and automation tooling
  • Company culture focused on collaboration, support, and learning
