MCS Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for a scaling technology company with a truly unique product. Established over 7 years ago, the business is projected to grow to 100 employees by the end of 2025 and counts some of the world's most recognizable brands as customers. Their Software Engineering team is close-knit and offers an experienced Software Engineer with Java and Cloud technologies a proper technical challenge in a fast-paced environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced Java Developer seeking autonomy, the opportunity to work on an interesting product, and to shape the engineering culture of a growing team.

The Role:

1. The Principal Engineer will lead the design and architecture of complex, high-scale applications using Java and AWS.
2. They will set engineering best practices and drive adoption of cloud solutions.
3. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and hardware engineering teams, to deliver robust, scalable, and secure systems.
4. They will provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers, fostering a culture of innovation.
5. They will stay ahead of industry trends to continuously improve the tech stack and engineering processes.

The Person:

1. Expertise in Java (latest versions), Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
2. Strong experience with AWS.
3. Proven track record in designing distributed, scalable systems.
4. Leadership experience in mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.
5. Any exposure to hardware or firmware teams is beneficial, especially if you have experience reading or writing C code.

Salary:

• Up to £85,000 with a benefits package including a 10% bonus and share options.
