Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent enables the technology behind daily activities such as internet surfing, travel, and emergency services. We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning activities within designated areas, including the top of M25, M4, M11, and bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

If you enjoy working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field, this role is for you. Our Engineers are essential in delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, contributing to the nation's critical infrastructure connectivity and security 24/7.

What you’ll do:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to maintain network operation.
• Complete all commissioning of equipment to standard, on time, and within budget.
• Address equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets within your area, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Complete all necessary documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You should have prior experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing within fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK driving license.
