Mechanical Engineer - Chilmark (3 days) - £50-£70,000

I was told by a current employee of this business that they’ve never worked in a team with such a high level of collaboration between designers and manufacturing.

In this role, you’ll help design and build UAV Platforms. The designers work extremely closely with manufacturing to see the product end-to-end and understand how to make things 1% better. All the design and build is in one place, and they can fly their aircraft just down the road. This setup allows for rapid prototyping, enabling quick, dynamic engineering, fast failure, and reiteration where needed.

This is a lead role, with 60% hands-on design work and 40% leadership of 2-3 engineers initially. You’ll work in “Air vehicle design” with a focus on mechanical design. The wider team covers a broad spectrum of specialisms, including Propulsion Systems, AirFlow, LFD, integration, and productization.

We are hiring for mid-level, Senior, and Lead roles, hence the wide salary band.

Ideally, you’d be an experienced mechanical designer with a background in:

• SolidWorks
• (If a lead role, then leadership of 2+ engineers)
• DfM principles
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems, UAVs, or aerospace

It’s highly desirable but not essential to have experience in 3D printing, CNC milling, structural design, and systems engineering.
