Join a leading NHS Trust as a Band 5 Staff Nurse in the Recovery team at West Suffolk Hospital. This role involves caring for post-operative patients, ensuring high standards of care, and supporting various specialties. Ideal candidates will have NMC/HCPC registration and a passion for patient care, with opportunities for development and mentorship.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Recovery team on a 1-year fixed-term contract or secondment. Our 12-bed recovery unit at West Suffolk Hospital cares for both adult and paediatric patients immediately post-anaesthesia following various surgeries and procedures.
We are seeking an organized, enthusiastic, and motivated nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) registered with the NMC or HCPC, with at least 6 months post-qualification experience working as a Band 5 in an acute NHS setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for delivering excellent patient care and possess strong communication skills.
Recovery is an innovative unit providing high standards of post-operative care and supporting various specialties within the hospital, including Critical Care Services as part of the escalation plan. The successful applicant will be part of a forward-thinking team committed to driving new initiatives.
New team members will receive a comprehensive induction supported by mentors and the team. As a registered nurse in recovery, you will work with post-operative patients of all specialties, with responsibility and accountability for your own patients, under the supervision of the nurse in charge.
After suitable training, you will be expected to receive unconscious patients, both adult and paediatric, from theatre, confidently using the A-E assessment process to plan ongoing post-operative care until they are safe and ready for discharge to the ward.
This role offers variety and multiple development opportunities. We expect the successful candidate to have completed at least 6 months of post-registration experience in another acute NHS area.
