Civils Setting Out Engineer

Job Title: Setting Out Engineer - Civil

Location: Nationwide site visits

Salary: Dependent on experience

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00-17:00 (midweek and weekend overtime available)

About the role:

We seek a motivated and experienced Civil Setting Out Engineer to join our team in the infrastructure sector.

In this role, you will set out civil engineering works from planning to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards. You will collaborate with engineers, contractors, and regulators to ensure compliance with technical specifications and industry standards, maintaining strong client relationships. A solid background in setting out, surveying, and civil engineering is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use setting out techniques with level & EDM, GPS
• Report issues with control and information provided
• Read and interpret drawings and schedules
• Develop Activity Control Plans and produce handover documentation
• Understand construction tolerances
• Use specifications and contract documents effectively
• Create detailed documentation for handover of completed works
• Supervise and oversee construction activities
• Ensure quality and compliance with specifications
• Manage site logistics and resolve technical issues

Qualifications and Skills:

• At least 3 years' engineering experience
• Degree in civil engineering or relevant experience (desirable)
• Current driving license, PTS card, & CSCS card
• SSSTS certification
• Working towards Chartership with ICE or similar professional body (desirable)
• Experience with Leica Survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, levels)
• Experience with reinforced concrete, piling, earthworks, and retaining structures
• Knowledge of commercial processes
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and RAMS writing
• People and project management skills
• Organisational skills as a team leader
• Commitment to high safety standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD & N4Ce
• Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away from home as required
