Locum Homelessness Lawyer, South Yorkshire

CRA Consulting is working with Sheffield City Council to recruit a Locum Homelessness Lawyer for an initial 2–3 month contract (very likely to extend). This role is fully remote, offers a competitive hourly rate, and provides an opportunity to make a real difference in a key frontline service.

Role at a glance:

• Advise on statutory homelessness duties (Housing Act 1996, Part VII)
• Respond to legal challenges from applicants & their representatives
• Draft formal responses to pre-action protocols & judicial reviews
• Support senior staff with complex legal escalations
• Handle enquiries from solicitors, advocates & third parties
• Fully remote working with flexibility

Candidate requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive
• 2–3+ years experience in homelessness or housing law
• Ideally with a local authority background
• Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
• Confident communicator with strong drafting skills
